“Every Woman deserves a chance to start fresh, to feel safe, and to be surrounded by people who believe in her potential. At Woo Girls Work we provide more than just a bed.
We offer hope, healing, and the tools to thrive. I invite you to join us in this mission. You can help through donations, volunteering, or simply sharing our story. Together we can change lives, one woman at a time.”
- Peggy Albers
The Heart Behind Woo Girls Work
Peggy Albers founded Woo Girls Work after witnessing the deep need for safe housing and compassionate support for women re‑entering society after incarceration or escaping abusive relationships. Drawing on her own experiences and decades of community service, Peggy built a trauma‑informed program that meets women with dignity and respect. She began by opening her home at the Lake of the Ozarks, welcoming women who needed a safe place to land, and a loving community to help them heal and rebuild their lives.
A Lifelong Commitment to Empowerment
Under Peggy’s leadership, Woo Girls Work has grown from a grassroots effort into a registered 501(c)(3) organization. Peggy works tirelessly to ensure that every woman who reaches out receives not only shelter, but also access to counseling, life skills training, financial literacy, and meaningful employment opportunities. She partners with community organizations, local churches, employers, and volunteers to create a network of resources that women can rely on during every step of their journey.
